Fort Mill Was Promised Economic Growth. Instead, Local Businesses Are Taking Legal Action Just to Get Paid.
While our community was promised jobs and investment, local companies working on the Silfab facility are now filing legal claims after not being paid. These are local businesses hired to build the facility, now forced to pursue legal action.
Here’s what the public record shows:
10 mechanics liens
$4.5 million in claims
Less than 10 months
$1.56 million still unpaid TODAY
And it's accelerating. Four new legal actions were filed in just the final two weeks of March.
Silfab is already named in an active York County Circuit Court case tied to this facility. Two of the newest liens, filed just Friday, came from a company that installs chemical-grade process piping. These are the systems designed to handle hazardous chemicals on site.
Still unpaid.
This raises serious questions for our community:
If Silfab cannot pay the companies building the facility, how are they funding the safety systems meant to protect families from hundreds of thousands of pounds of highly toxic and explosive chemicals?
How can a company with this financial track record be trusted to operate safely next door to our children’s schools?
These are not rumors.
This is the public record.
And the situation is getting worse.
Here's what you can do right now.
Contact York County Council
York County approved this project and continues allowing operations to move forward. Contact Council members and demand accountability, transparency, and immediate action to protect our community.
Contact the Fort Mill School Board
A resolution was a start, but our community needs stronger action. Contact the School Board and demand binding steps including formal opposition to continued operations.
This is our community. And we must keep pushing.
